Crews-Beggs Department Store was located at the south-east corner of 4th and Main Streets in downtown Pueblo. It was a four-story granite building with basement. It carried everything. It also had the only public restroom for women in the basement. I more or less grew up shopping there. During the Christmas season, a huge live pine tree was mounted outside on the corner of the building and lit up. It was later bought by Joslin's. When Joslin's moved to the Pueblo Mall, the old Crews-Beggs building was demolished. For a number of years, there was a huge hole in the ground, until the city fathers demanded it be filled in and used for parking. Other early department stores in downtown Pueblo were C.C. Anderson, a smaller store (2 stories plus basement) across the street from Crews- Beggs on 4th Street, and White and Davis, at the corner of 6th and Main Streets. Joan Pueblo
