The only "prison" in Pueblo County would have been the Pueblo County Jail. The Colorado Department of Corrections operates state prisons at Canon City. Later ones were started in south Canon City and Ordway. If he died in Pueblo County, a death certificate can be obtained from the Pueblo City-County Health Department, Division of Vital Statistics. If he died in Canon City, obtain the certificate from Fremont County. Joan

Co Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Co/Pueblo?read=81 Surname: Bell ------------------------- I'm looking for information on my husband's grandfather. His name was Fred Harmon BELL. He wasn't from Colorado, but he died in a prison near Pueblo (Pueblo County) in or around 1952. His parents were Henry and Ellen Bell. He was divorced from Lorena Katherine Bell. Any info would be appreciated.
Does anyone have a good resource for this person? This came to my personal email, so email them directly. I'd be interested in any resource someone might have as well to include it on the Pueblo County Page. Mary Kay, It is most likely that burial may have taken place in this cemetery: Roselawn Cemetery 1706 Roselawn Road Pueblo, CO 81006 (719) 542-2934 It has been in operation since 1891, and I recall that it does have a Catholic section. Other possibilities are the Pioneer Cemetery, office at 800 Goodnight Ave., Pueblo, CO, 81004, phone (719) 566-1745 . The cemetery itself is very old, located on the north side of town, and has been restored in recent years. The other old cemetery is Mountain View, 1314 Acero Ave., Pueblo, CO 81004, (719) 564-6023. I don't know exactly when it was established, but does have many old graves in it. The newer cemetery, which wouldn't help you, but might help someone else, is Imperial Memorial Gardens, 5450 Hwy. 78W, Pueblo, CO 81005. (719) 564-0920. You can obtain death certificates from the Pueblo City-County Health Department Vital Statistics 151 Central Main St. Pueblo, CO 81003 (719) 583-4306. Charge is $15 as I recall. As far as I know, no one has posted any cemetery transcriptions on the internet cemetery sites. Hope this helps. Joan Pueblo

Hello, Today, I was forwarded information on an obituary from January 28, 1926 in the Pueblo Chieftain. My g-granduncle, Dr. Harry Benton Crawford died on January 27, 1926 at a local hospital. He lived and is buried with his wife Susie N. Crawford, d, 1939 in Beula, Colorado. There does not appear to be an obituary for aunt Susie. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this doctor and his wife who assisted him. They probably lived there between 1912-1926. Thanks for any help. Nicky Vancouver, Wa.
To who did you write or where did you get conformation as to his death? My Great grandfather's sister had a daughter there. I only know my aunt's name, but that should help I'd think....I need some clues too....help!! Nancy in Denver Happily Rooting & Digging the Dusty Trails of Colorado
