    1. [COPUEBLO] History of Pueblo Army Air Base Book now available
    2. Joan M. Alyea
    3. "Pueblo Army Air Base - a Chronological History - 1942-1946", by Dr. Ray L. Sisson, has been published by the Pueblo Historical Aircraft Society. The well-documented book details the history of this B-24 bomber base. Contained in the book are maps of the base (now Pueblo's Memorial Airport), many photographs, copies of manuals and programs, etc. There is also a list of those crew members killed in crashes at the army air base, as well as an accident summary giving locations. The book is available from the Society for $20 plus shipping. Contact them at Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum, 31001 Magnuson Ave., Pueblo, CO 81001. Phone 719-948-9219, or FAX 719-948-2437. The book is a valuable resource for descendants of those men who were stationed at the base or who flew B-24 bombers during World War II. The society also has a web site at http://www.co.pueblo.co.us/pwam on which they are developing a searchable list of those who underwent training at the base. I just got my copy today, and the book is great! My mother worked at the base as an accountant at the PX, and I spent a lot of Saturdays there. Hope this helps some folks! Joan Alyea

    1. [COPUEBLO] Langdon, Anthony J. 1847-1915
    2. Pueblo, Pueblo County, Colorado, The Pueblo Chieftain, Saturday, October 9, 1915, pg. 5. “ILLNESS FATAL TO ANTHONY J. LANGDON ------------------------------------------------- Prominent Real Estate Man, Long a Resident of Pueblo, Succumbs – Funeral Will Be Held This Afternoon [sic] After a lingering illeness [sic] which has confined him to his bed for three months, Anthony J. Langdon, one of Pueblo’s most prominent real estate men, passed away yesterday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Morris Crum, 426 west Ninth street [sic]. Mr. Langdon was 62 years old last September 8. The funeral will be held this morning at 9:30 o’clock from the Sacred Heart Catholic church, and in keeping with a desire of the deceased, the mourners are requested to bring no flowers. Father T. J. Wolohan will officiate. The deceased has been a member of the Sacred Heart church for many years, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Langdon is survived by his wife, Margaret Herron Langdon, his daughter, Mrs. Crum, two brothers, J. J. [John J.] Langdon of Pueblo, president of the Pueblo Abstract company and T. W. Langdon of Omaha, Neb., and two sisters, Mrs. John Davis and Miss Nellie Langdon of Omaha. The deceased was born in Springfield, Ill., September 8, 1847, and as a boy of 12 years, in 1859 removed with his parents, brothers and sisters to Sarpy county, Neb. Those were in the days before railroads crossed the western plains, and the trip was made overland in a prairie schooner. The Langdon family settled on a farm and the children grew up there, the sons engaging in farming and cattle raising. A. J. Langdon married Margaret Herron of Omaha in 1878, the wedding being celebrated at the Catholic cathedral in that city. In 1891, A. J. Langdon retired from the cattle business in Sharpy [sic] county and followed to Pueblo his brother John J., who came here in 1884. Here the deceased engaged in the real estate business and invested quite heavily in Pueblo realty. He was a shrewd, conservative dealer, and his advice as to real estate values and prospects was considered sound and reliable. Decline Is Gradual Early in June of this year Mr. Langdon became ill and was confined to his bed with a complication of disease. From that time he gradually declined in health and for several days prior to his death it was realized that the end was near. The deceased is an uncle of Deputy District Attorney Laurence Langdon and deputy clerk of the District Court Genevieve Langdon.” [Parents of Anthony J. Langdon were Patrick and Catherine (nee Thomas) Langdon.]

    1. [COPUEBLO] Vineland High School ring
    2. Joan M. Alyea
    3. I copied this from a new web-site that lists lost items. As I recall, there used to be a Vineland High School out in Vineland. Contact the person direct who posted this message. Joan Vineland High School Ring - 1921 My sister has an old high school ring which was found with a medal detector by our uncle at the beach. The ring is a woman's ring, its gold all over - no stone, just an emblem on the top, maybe the school mascot. The school it was from is Vineland High School & the only Vineland High we know is in New Jersey. My sister would like to see this ring get back to a family member if the owner is no longer around. If there is any way you can help it would mean a great deal to us! I know there's not much to go on, but any idea would help. There are initials on the ring - if you have a relative who graduated from Vineland High in 1921, please contact to identify the initials. Contact Cindy at shaolin@labyrinth.net
