Family rumor has it that Lydia had the marriage annulled. It's like she disappeared. The marriage date is as follows: Jesse Barker of Lamar, CO. Prowers County Etta Komer of Lamar, CO. Prowers County Married on 8-24-1910 in Bent County Married by Fred H. Zimmerman Jesse-Mother was Lydia Adeline Carrico-Barker residing in Lamar, CO. Jesse-Father was John Barker residing in Lamar, CO Please let me know where to go from here. If the marriage was annulled would it have to have been annulled in the County there were married in or could the annulment taken place in Lamar, CO. Thank you.

    3. Hello List Members, As list owner and county coordinator for Prowers County, CO, I wanted to let you know that the Prowers County web pages now have access to the GenConnect boards at Rootsweb. The boards include Queries, Obits, Bios, Bible Records, Pensions, Wills, and Deeds. With this new connection ability, there is also a Gateways connection. This means that anything that is posted to one of the boards will be gatewayed to the mailing list. On the Prowers County Web Site, the old queries are still available, from 1998 to Aug 1, 1999. Anything after Aug 1, 1999, I am hand entering into the GenConnect system. You should have already started receiving some of them on the mailing list. Hopefully, this should only take a day or two. Since I added the new links to the boards, I have redesigned the pages. 1. [COPROWER-L] A Stamp for MINERS - We need help
    2. Rosanne Gemzik
    3. Wilkes-Barre Pa June 7, 1999 I came across the following article in the Citizen's Voice on Monday. It was brought to my attention by my mom, who had been telling me about the petitions that were being passed around at local Senior Citizen Groups in an effort to have the Postal Service create a stamp with a miner on it. MINER STAMP IS POSTAGE THAT'S DUE, LET'S GET ONE A postage stamp depicting the American Miner is not too much to ask. We have stamps honoring rock stars. We have a stamp with the word LOVE. We have stamps showing pictures of presidents. We think they've all been great. And we think the postal service has done a good job of regularly asking Americans what pictures they would like on postage. So we're perplexed as to why the post office has not responded to a perfectly reasonable and well meaning request of a group of Wyoming Valley Residents to have a stamp memorializing coal miners. A stamp with a miner would make a heroic-looking picture. The group has even done a sketch. And certainly, the contribution of the miners to American industry - past and present - is worthy of recognition. So we're even more perplexed - even disturbed - to read in the Sunday Citizen's Voice that local advocates for the stamp have been told it' not in the national interest. A stamp with a miner would be a great stamp. The local people who are trying to get one - John Vengien, Donald Godek, Chet Brozenza, Catherine Cavary, Harry Newak, Ernest Paulis and Leonard Sarnick - deserve our support. And they deserve a positive answer from the postal service. Write for a stamp honoring miners to: U.S. Postal Service Attn: Stamp Development 475 L'Enfant Plaza, S.W. Washington D.C. 20260-2435 Please forward this to everyone you can think of, persons, senior citizen , groups, libraries, congressmen, senators etc. Rosanne Munley Gemzik In memory of: John Gardner, killed in mines, Aug. 1878, Pittston Pa Patrick Kelley, killed in mines, 1879 , Pittston Pa. 1. [COPROWER-L] A note to the CO mailing list
    2. Constance
    3. My aplogies for the lengthy roll call list for the decendents of my ancestors in my direct family line. Some may have been confused about that part. My intentions were to have lookups on two of my oldest ancestors in my list sent to you. The rest of the names were for private mailings to make contact, connect, exchanges, and updates for those responding to my roll call. It is clear that Isaiah McNEESE and Bloomer WHITE are the ones that we need to lookup because our genealogies stop there with those two and go no further for many, many surnames in our families. Thank you all that responded to the email and those of you, who did lookups and even made contact, connections, exchanges, and updates. This all was very helpful in the WHITE - MCNEESE - CAMPBELL Family Web Site, which archives records. It was my pleasure to do lookups, send out exchanges of records and updates, and to meet some of you personally. I want to ask that those of you, who might have been confused in my post to understand that I sent out a correction and tried to clarify my request in a simple statement. Please respond to the lookup if you are in the family and be at liberty to contact me if I can be of help to you in anyway. I try to do some research for the family or those with related interests though my time is limited. I give instructions on how to find what you need if I am unable to do so. It was a great Mother's Day and since I did not say Happy Mother's Day to those of you, who are mothers, then I hope it was a good one for you. Kindly, with regards, Constance
