I went back over the data, looked at the censuses again, re-read my notes, and this is what I get: The "Wallac" in 1910 is not Wallace, it is Willie. Nancy has had 5 children and 4 living, BUT there are 5 kids in the home. WILLIE is a child from William's first marriage! On to 1920: Nancy is "Nancie", 63 and widowed. With her is Lurana, the "Louzana" from 1910. Two doors away is who I believe is our Willie and his family. It is possible that your William is a son of William Sr Copeland and Matilda ----. This family is in Lawrence Co AL in 1870 with 2 sons, then appears in Walker Co AL in 1880. By then they have 4 sons and a daughter, but the kids only have initials. There is a daughter "L", 5, who very possibly could be Lurana. She is the only Copeland girl of the right age with an L initial in Alabama, that I have found. dotsicle
I think I said it wrong in my last post. What I meant was that WILLIE may have been the son of William and Matilda, and that Matilda may have been your William's first wife. Pratt is still there in Lawrence Co in 1930 and his mother lives with them, but in that census he is "William P" Copeland. dotsicle
