[email protected],Blount Co, Al to James& Adeline C. Sterling Copeland[James was son of David & Esther Williams Copeland] Silas was named for his maternal grandfather, Silas Sterling. SilasCopeland married his 1st wife-Mary Jane Yielding on 1-7-1866. They had 4-5 children. Mary was born to Wm.Berry & Lurinda Hadassa Nesmith Yielding on 9-14-1848 in Blount Co., Al & d. on 8-22-1882 Mary is buried in New Lebanon/Blue Springs Cemetery near Blountsville, Alabama; the 2nd wife of Silas was Mary's little sister,Verzena Yielding,b.1855 & d. 1905-Silas and Verzena were married on 9-18-1883. They had one child, a daughter. Silas was enlisted in the 19th Alabama Infantry, Co."K",CSA on 3-28-1862 in Captn. Skinners Co. & served till surrender.Silas died in April of 1910 in Birmingham,Alabama & is buried Oak Hill Cemetery in Birmingham with 2nd wife Verzena.He is the father of Reverend Theodore Copeland,a prominent Methodist Ministe! r.
