Lott was son of Landen Copeland (1796-1850) and Elizabeth Johnston (?-1837). After Elizabeth died Landen married Hannah Morris Thornton (who had 7 kids of her own). Samuel was the first born of 3 that Landen and Hannah had. If I'm counting right that makes us 4th cousins? I think. Ha!
