Hasn't enough been said about this. I belong to other lists where you would be removed for this kind of discussion. It does not, in any way, help me or anyone else find needed information on our Copeland lines. Everyone has their own views and opinions regarding it. I, for one, agree that it's not fair nor is it ethical. It's why I refuse to submit my family tree to Family Treemaker everytime I'm prompted to do so. Owning the rights to my information is not an issue with me. I very much would like to share it and compare with others but detest the very idea that someone else profits from the hard work of others. I am forever indebted to those who have so generously shared their files. As long as there are gullible people others will prey upon them to sell them anything and everything. I am a long time eBay member and shake my head sometimes at what people are willing to pay for things. Sometimes it is for things that they can get for free with a little bit of digging. Sometimes it's for legitimate items but people bid way over the retail price that the item is available for. Sometimes it's for things like "muffler bearings" or "radiator fluid" for air-cooled engines. Thank goodness the Elian Gonzales situation is over! The raft he came to America on was up for grabs, as was his left over lunch and dirt from his yard. When was the last time you saw someone selling family name coat of arms? Come on, how real is that? They have every conceivable name you can imagine. If they don't have the one you give them they will "research" it and have a cool looking Coat of Arms and history of the name the next time you see them. For everyone's sake, can this subject be laid to rest and this list used for it's intended purpose? Thanks, Tony Higgins
