my mothers name was catherine eleanor copeland and was born and raised in alabama. she, of course was born in 1931 and married into the copeland family as a walker but i found the similarities ironic. ive heard that my william copeland ( wife mary maiden name unknown) was from north carolina, born in 1801 and moved to arkansas and then alabama.. do you have any other info on this catherine copeland? i wonder if theyre tied together somehow? thanks.. carolyn copeland- hennen BanC36@aol.com wrote: I am researching the Copeland family Catherine Copeland born 1778 in North Carolina she then moved to Jefferson Co TN there she married Thomas Mathis /Matthews in 1797 she moved to AL then to AR where she and her children settled, she died about 1866 in Washington Co AR We do not know where Thomas died.
