Participants must be of direct male descendancy from the early Copeland, father to son to son etc. Your sons could participate in their own surname project if you are researching their surname. Your mtDNA will provide only your maternal line ancestry, mother to daughter etc. You do not carry the Y-chromosome of your male ancestors. Sad, but true.
