    2. Hi Jean, I am not sure, but the cost of the 12 markers that are offered by the National Geographic Project are the same price as if ordered through our Copeland Project. They are both done by the same company. There is no such thing as a Surname mtDNA project, because females change their names each generation and the daughters of sisters have different surnames. That test is used for location/timeline studies. As for your sons, their Y-DNA would be the same as their father's.
