Hi, My husband descends from John Copeland born in Ireland about 1748. He and his wife Margaret Blakely are buried at Duncan Creek Church Cemetery. On their tombstone it says John and Margaret were both born in Ireland and that he served in the Revolutionary War in Col William Bratton's Regiment. Is anyone else on this list descended from this John? I am having problems finding his grandson Henry (son of John II) who died during the Civil War. There seem to be 3 or 4 J H Copelands who fought then but none of them died at Richmond as family legend goes. If this sounds familiar to anyone please contact me. Sue Copeland at jmcope@cox.net "You listed Copelands from Monaghan. I've a long roots history of another branch of my tree in that county. Now, curious as to your Copelands from there. I descend from the Copelands that came to Virginia in 1648 but don't know where they came from. They were part of a group brought to this continent by Sir Tho. Luntsford. I assume that was a royal land grant or something of that ilk. Rumor is that my Wm. & Mary Copeland were from Scotland. I've no proof of that. Does any of this ring a bell with anyone else in this group?" jean
