My father was Russell Wilfred Copeland b. 1893 in Teaswater, Bruce County, Ontario. He had one sibling, Mary, older by about 2 years. Their parents were Robert Copeland and Mary Copeland (Russell). Their birth dates are unknown but Mary was probably an only child of the Russell family. The family moved to Bowmanville Ont. sometime before 1916 but after 1901. If any of these people are meaningful to you, please let me know.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ikJ.2ACIB/1228 Message Board Post: Can anyone help me with information concerning the Copeland's of Hastings County, Ontario Canada. I have spent years compiling information about my family (Copeland) but have finally run out of options and ideas. I have traced my Copeland name back to the 1790's and have even found some information of family births in Clones, Monaghan, Ireland. My problem now is that I am finding it hard to prove the existance of certain family members between those periods. Please advise.

Samuel was the first born of 3 that Landen and Hannah had. If I'm counting right that makes us 4th cousins? I think. Ha!

Apparenty, Joseph's brother Roscoe Copeland wrote a letter to Joseph's children (Roscoe's nieces and nephews) telling them that their father was buried in Pontiac. You should check out this website.... http://www.gwbhs.com/articles/CopelandPart1.htm http://www.gwbhs.com/articles/CopelandPart2.htm The man who wrote these stories is incredibly knowledgeable about Joseph Tarr Coepland and from what I understand, he found the letter written from Roscoe Copeland to Joseph's children telling him about the grave in Michigan. He has pictures of the grave on his website from when he visited, so he will probably be a great help to you.

Surnames: Copeland, Davis, Erskine Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ikJ.2ACIB/1175.1.1 Message Board Post: Thanks for responding! When I first put out this query, I knew very little about the Copeland family but in the ensuing months I have found out countless amounts of information about him and all of his 10 siblings. I'd heard about the grave problem as well....I guess he just had to be back in Michigan. There are a few books that talk about Joseph Copeland's family, but as they were all written by distant relatives of Joseph's father, Royal, they do not provide any information on his mother's side of the family. I am related to Copeland through his mother, Alice Davis, and have quite a bit of information on his mother's lineage.
