I have a Miss Mary or Marg Copeland who lived in Guelph, Ontario in 1936. I believe she is my grandfather's sister. In her letters she's mentioned James, John and William (several times on William). All of them would have been between 50-70 years old at the time. She was writing Albert (Bert) Copeland who had moved to Wisconson, I believe this is the only relative he kept in touch with. I know nothing about Albert Copleand (b. 1888), and am only in the process of getting more by sending away for his marriage and death certificate. I know that he had a previous marriage and child prior to my Grandmother, Laura. I have no idea how populated Ontario was then, and if there is a likely chance of a connection, but if there is any remote chance there might be a connection, please let me know...maybe eventually we could share our research info?

I am researching my greataunt Elizabeth COPELAND. There is certain data that I have verified but there is also other data that I now have some doubts about. I know definitely that she was the d/o Joseph COPELAND and Elizabeth (Lizzie) McCLYMONT, and was born c1884, Durham, ENG 31 March 1901 she was living with her parents and younger siblings at Hisehope, Muggleswick, Durham, ENG where she was a dressmaker on her own at home. The last verifiable date was 10 September 1902 when she was still unmarried and she was a witness at the marriage of her sister Margaret COPELAND to James PAYNE [my grandparents] at the Muggleswick Parish Church, Muggleswick, Durham, ENG. Now the following is the data which I have been unable to verify. It may be correct, incorrect or partly correct. Elizabeth married William BROADBENT (second marriage?). Known children were Nellie, Ann, Alice, Bill Jim Payne New Zealand [email protected]

I was interested in the list of your families containing both a Copeland and a Moore. My brick wall is the Moore. My Grandmother, Mary Laura Goings 1870-1906, married Stephen Wright Copeland 1894-1910. Mary Laura's mother was Caroline Moore b abt 1841 d 1910 in Camden Co. Ga. Caroline Married Joseph Goings, Sr. I cannot find the parents of Caroline Moore but believe her mother was half-Indian. Her father may have been a James or an Arthur as both are found in the Camden County area around the time. Like you said, it doesn't hurt to ask. Thanks a bunch. Betty
