    3. Herman's book appears to be unavailable. I called his wife. She has no more. Some one else called his son and was told there are no more copies of his book. One suggestion: Place a plea with one of the big online book vendors. Maybe Amazon may have a source for a second hand book. Join Ohio Genealogy Society and take advantage of their mail check out book set up. If you can get the book and can afford to do so, make a zerox-type copy. That's what I'm using. The book is small and if handled right, you can copy two pages at a time. Not cheap, unless you can do it at home. But the book was selling for more than $20, according to rumor. Good luck. PS if you find a source for more than one book, be sure to let us all know about it. YOu're not the only one that wants that book. jean --- JimLeviner@aol.com wrote: > I would very much like to get a copy of Herman Copeland's > book. Participants must be of direct male descendancy from the early Copeland, father to son to son etc. Your sons could participate in their own surname project if you are researching their surname. Your mtDNA will provide only your maternal line ancestry, mother to daughter etc. You do not carry the Y-chromosome of your male ancestors. Sad, but true. 3. To John: What you're saying is intriging. Most of us have only info on the Copelands in this country. My first reference and major help was Herman Coplen's book. With all the research he did, he only guessed that the beginning of my line in this country was a couple from he didn't know where.....It's a safe assumption that they came from the British Isles. Probably England, as you say. Do let us all know what you know. Have you contributed to the Copeland DNA project? I think the least expensive one is thru National Geograpic. I'm not sure how I can get involved. Dunno if there's a mtDNA project, in the works - can my sons whose surnames are not Copeland, participate? jean --- oneluvablesob1@verizon.net wrote: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this > mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ikJ.2ACIB/1472.7 > > Message Board Post: > > Hi my name is John Copeland Ive chased my ancestors back > to England I did most of my research trhough the web and > my family that has visited the archives in Charleston WV. > Email me if interested in what I have > > oneluvablesob1@verizon.net > > thanks John Copeland > > > ==== COPELAND Mailing List ==== > To contact the List Admin: > mailto:COPELAND-admin@rootsweb.com > > To unsubscribe from List Mode: > mailto:COPELAND-L-request@rootsweb.com?subject=unsubscribe > > To unsubscribe in Digest Mode: > mailto:COPELAND-D-request@rootsweb.com?subject=unsubscribe > > AOL USERS: Send an email > to:COPELAND-L-request@rootsweb.com > (In Digest Mode change the "L" to a "D") with the word > unsubscribe > in the body of the message. > > ============================== > Search the US Census Collection. 1. Thanks for all the Well Wishes and Prayers
    2. Hello all, I want to thank you are for all the messages of concern for me and my family. We are fine and anxious to get back to New Orleans. My husband must have surgery on Friday and that is why we are still in Arkansas. We expect to be back in New Orleans next week, however, our home will require lots of work, just to get the wet items out and then to make repairs. We will be staying at our son's home in the interim. Thanks for all the prayers and offers of help. We will take the prayers, but others need the help more than we do. We have some wonderful cousins here in AR taking good care of us. Love, Julia
