In Lancaster, Lancashire I think every other male Copeland/Coupland was named Lawrence/Laurence. The hard part is figuring out which was which. We have traced my husband's family back to a William Coupland, b. April 1776. We believe his parents were Laurence Coupland and Elizabeth Richardson. Sibblings were - Robert, b. 1773, Laurence, b. 1778, May 1780, Harry, b. 1783 and Margaret, b. 1785. Are any of these people familiar to anyone? On doing an IGI search through FamilySearch found that there were Copelands on the island as long ago as 1800. As yet I have been unable to get a direct link. Are there any Copeland out there who has any information in connection with the Isle of Man I would be most interested.
