My information is very sketchy. My great-great Grandmother was Sally a Cherokee Indian that my father knew. They lived close to Decatur, AL and it may have been on an Indian Reservation located in Town Creek, AL. A great Uncle of mine told me during the 1980's that her brother was Mr. Copeland that leads me to believe her surname could be the same. I am looking to share information about Ransom Copeland b. 1822. He eventually settled in Crawford and Dent Counties in Missouri, marrying Louisa Simms and then Polly Turnbough. He was an officer in the Civil War. His son Solomon Copeland m. Mary Jane Butts 1861 in Dent County, MO. Please contact me if you know of this Copeland family. Kathy

extracted from The Herald, Rock Hill, SC -- 18 Feb 2002 FORT MILL - Mrs. Mary Copeland Taylor, 66, of 105 Myers St. died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at Piedmont Medical Center. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church on Rebound Road in Lancaster, with the Rev. Kenny Pressley officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery in Rock Hill. A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Taylor was a daughter of the late John Dewey Copeland and Jessie LeGrand Copeland. She was a member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was the widow of Johnny W. Taylor. Surviving are four daughters, Dianne Taylor Germundson and Debbie Taylor Chapman, both of Fort Mill, Phyllis Taylor Cook of Rock Hill and Patricia Taylor Bartone of Fayetteville, Ga.; four sisters, Jessie Ruth Worthy and Elaine Henderson, both of Rock Hill, Elizabeth Marze of Greenville and Alice Racine of Crestview, Fla.; two brothers, John Copeland and Harold Copeland, both of Rock Hill; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

I am seeking additional information on Mary C. Copeland who was born Oct. 8, 1857 and she died Oct. 23, 1928. She is buried in Bold Springs Cemetery in Grady County, Georgia. She married James McCray. Sorry so vague, but basically this is all I have to go on at the present time. Thank you Robbie
