I am rather new to the mailing list, so I thought I would let everyone know about my Coopers. I am looking for information on Jesse Cooper and his wife Dorcas (surname unknown). He suddenly appears from nowhere into Hamilton County, Ohio in 1820. I know this because his son William (my gggrandfather) was born in Hamilton County in 1820 . Jessie had other children too: Samuel, Jaret, Elin (sic) and Lizzie. William married Lucinda Harris (parents:William and Becky Harris) in Hamilton County in 1844. They had several children: Jessie, b April 1845, Samuel, b Oct. 1846, Sarah b Jan. 1847 (that's not possible, but that's what it looks like in the bible. More likely 1848), Henry b. Dec. 1849, Laura b. Sept 1851, Elizabeth,b. May 1854, John b. March 1857, Albert b. April 1858, Jacob b. May 1860, Dora Jane b. May 1864 and Flora Belle b. Dec. 1866 (my great grandmother). Sometime between 1844 and 1862, they (Wm.'s family) moved to a farm near Milford in Clermont Cty., Ohio. Sometime after 1868 they moved to Montgomery Cty. Ohio. William was a civil war veteran. He was in the 79th OVI . I got lots of records pertaining to his military service from the National Archives but nothing to indicate anything about his father.
