Are you sure Sterling was the son of Benjamin Cooperm and was born in 1827 ???? I don't know of him at that time. Benjamin did have a son named Sterling much much earlier, in fact Sterling was in the Rev. War. Yes, I am sure. Sterling was born February 12, 1827 in Raleigh, North Carolina and died March 25, 1920 at Trilla, Illinois. According to his death certificate his father's name was Benjamin Cooper. My Grandma who recently died at age 91 also said that Sterling's fathers name was Benjamin.
