    1. Re: [COOPER-L] COOPER BREAKTHROUGH! CADER'S ESTATE-David, etc.-New info
    2. Dear Nancy, I believe that Emma Shepherd's information requires more research as to its accuracy in at least one line of descendants she claims as David's. Specifically "William, b VA m.Lidy CLARK d.aft 1784 will dated 1775 Spartenburg, SC." The William Cooper that married Lydia (Lidy) Clark migrated to Union County SC from Bucks County PA where he received a land grant in 1771 which is on file in Union County. Lydia Clark was also born in 1732, Buck's County, PA and died in Padgett's Creek, Union County SC in 1810. I have a copy of Williams will dated 1775. William, born 1729 in probably NJ was the son of Jonathan Cooper 1675-1769 and Sarah Hibbs 1692-1769. Jonathan came to New Jersey in 1699 with his father William 1649-1709 of Low Ellington, Yorkshire England. William and Lydia had eleven children, several of which were born in Bucks County, PA. These Cooper's were originally Quakers and are fairly well documented in Hinshaws Encyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy as well as the Union County (SC) Heritage Book printed in 1981. William and Lidy had a son named David also. 1769-1839. He married Charity Powell. There were two Cooper lines living in the Union County, Spartenburg area during this time period. Also at least three Williams and two David's. Several of the two seperate lines lived remarkably close to each other at times which has caused some confusion for many people. I call them seperate lines because I nor any of the people I have conversed with over the last few years have been able to connect them. I do show a David Cooper married to an Elizabeth Wilder. I have not connected them to the William and Lidy Clark line. I am a fifth great grandson of William and Lidy through their son Jacob. I have his will also. One interesting note though. Several of Jacobs son's migrated with many other SC area people to Marion County, Alabama and it's neighboring county's, "Monroe County" and Itawmbia County Mississippi. Three that are verified are Amos, Alston and Jonathan. (Younger than your John). Another interesting note is the Hibbs connection. Sarah Hibbs neice married a James Cooper, also a different line of Coopers in NJ. They were Quakers from "Warwickshire" England. This line of Coopers gave us the American Author, James Fenimore Cooper. Hope you were able to follow all of this. I have a pretty good line of facts on the William and Lydia bunch if I can help. Maybe somewhere the whole bunch is connected. Who knows? Danny Cooper Byrd
