Dear ALL, I have been watching for a while now, hopeing that something would jump out, but haven't seen anything so I figured I'd include a post and see if anyone can help me. I am looking for the family of Joseph M COOPER (B:1807 in Ohio according to 1850 Missouri Census) who was married to Sally UNKNOWN (B:1811 Kentucky). Children (acc. to 1850 Missouri Census Bates County): John B:1836 Indiana Isaac B:1836 Indiana Sally B:1837 Indiana Nancy B:1840 Missouri George B:1843 Missouri Susan B:1847 Missouri (died as a child) Joseph M. JR. B:1847 Missouri I am decended from Joseph Jr. It has been told to the family down through the years that Joseph JR. and "his brother" fought on Opposite sides in the civil War. This caused a quarel between them and after the war Joseph JR. moved to Alaska in search of gold while his brother went to Montana to ranch. Joseph Jr. made off well in Alaska, even having Cooper Landing in Alaska named after him, but lost touch with his family in the states. I have made contact with my Alaska relatives, but am looking back further to find out information about the family he left behind. Unfortunately, I do not know which side he fought on, or any other information about his life in the states. Because the family moved around alot, I think they were farmers, it has been difficult keeping up with them. Does anyone know any of his siblings or have an idea of where else I can look to try to find them. I am still relatively new at this and would love any guideance. Thank you ahead of time to everyone.
