Jeremiah Cooper went with a group of Quakers from East Nottingham, PA to Winchester, VA ca. early 1770's. In unknown order, he joined the Hopewell Meetinghouse on 11 Aug 1774 and ma. Rebecca Parrell, dau of Joseph Parrell and Sarah Turner, Winchester, VA. Jeremiah & Rebecca had twelve children (same as previously listed in Digest Issue #177). This listing was hand-scribed (date unk) by a Mr Wm Miller from a Bible in the possession of Mrs Kate Douglas Funk of Corydon, IN, all dates having been made in Quaker fashion, ie. " 1st day of the 1st month". Conventional dates are used here: 1. Sarah- b. 31 Oct 1775 2. Joseph- b. 10 Feb 1777 (ma. Sarah Ann Franklin 19 Aug 1804) 3. Jacob- b. 13 Jun 1779 (VA) 4. Cooper-Jeremiah Cooper emigrated from PA, near Phila, with a colony of Quakers and settled about seventeen miles from Winchester, VA, shortly before the Rev War; he there married Rebecca Perrill, who was born in 1755, a daughter of Joseph Perrill; he (Jeremiah Cooper) died in 1801. He was recruited by Col. Fauntleroy at Winchester for service in Washington's army. Can you tell me if he ever saw active service; also, if the ancestors of Rebecca Perrill (his wife) were in the war of the revolution. Jeremiah Cooper was third in descent from the Cooper, a companion of Wm Penn, who came over from England with Penn. Was not Jeremiah Cooper a son of Joseph Cooper, who was a member of the assembly at Burlington, NJ in 1727, and the friend of Benjamin Franklin, of whom Franklin makes mention in his autobiography? If you will give me this information or tell me where I may obtain it, I will very greatly appreciate the favor. Cartersville, GA B.V.C " Can anyone shed light on the above query since I can only echo it? Who was BVC? Was he ever answered? Thanks, Jim Scruggs
