The Rock Island IL DAILY ARGUS issue of 17 APR [Monday]1876 states that the "twelve year old daughter of Raphael COOPER of Long Grove, Scott Co IA was killed last week by a runaway team." There was no mention of her name. =============================== Looking over the old news you can see that many folks at any age were being killed by horses and railroads in the old days. I can remember my father always warning me when I left the house to watch out for open man holes, runaway streetcars, and non-scheduled trains.(g)
