To the list and especially to those many descendants of David Cooper of Thicketty, Sc (Spartainsburg area). Many of us, for some time have assumed (there's that word again) that the father of David was Marcome. Perhaps because it was common practice to name the first son after the grandfather. It still happens that way sometimes. Now comes an entry in GenForum, posted by Walter J. Wilmoth, about an Ann Cooper who married William Wilmoth's grandfather, Thomas. Deed of April 13 1762, Prince Edwards County states wife's name is Ann. Ann's brother George lived next to them according to deeds copied by Walter J. Wilmoth. George was from England and the father of David Cooper. This same David Coopers daughter Charity married John Wilmoth son of William, son of Thomas. This all seems to fit very well with known history. Walter states that there is more info available in James Lillard Wilmeth's Book. Which I haven't acquired. I have surmised that we will be more successful if there are more than one of us investigating this good info. I am going to acquire the book and see if I can prove anything.
