    3. Hi, Just this summer I was able to break through a firewall regarding one of my Cooper kin. I knew my ggrandfather was named "Harvey Moore Cooper." I know he was born about 1874 and who his spouse was. I also knew his death date and that he died during a time when SC was keeping death certificates (post 1920). Every time I would try to get his death cert, there would be none and I would end up with a Hiram M. Cooper...'obviously' not the right person. Wrong! In going through my late grandma's bible record, she listed "Harvey Moore Cooper's" father to be Knute Cooper and Lucindy. Lucinda was indeed the first name of "Harvey's" mom. Furthermore, I have found that Newton C. Cooper enlisted in the 16th Regiment, NC Troops, company D, in March 1862. (All that NC/SC stuff gets pretty complicated in the mid-1800s...Rutherford County being in both states and all). I have sent off for his military records at NARA, but was able to find a short history of the 16th NCT. What a unit! There were three pages of one-line battle listings where the 16th served. Any of my cousins have anything else on Newton C. Cooper or his spouse's line of Bohelings (Beheling)? James in Idaho
