Looking for the family of Lewis (Louis) Bryant Cooper born about 1826 in Georgia or South Carolina. Believe that he first married Elizabeth Porter in Jones County, Georgia in 1842, and they had sons James (1846) , John (1851) and Joseph (1847.) Before 1860 Lewis Cooper married Elizabeth Jane King Pettis in Georgia. They had William Moses (1860), Lewis Elendor (1862), and Georgia (1869.) Lewis Cooper died before 1876 probably in or near Henry County, Alabama. His widow Elizabeth Pettis Cooper boarded a train sometime after December 13, 1876 along with her young children and headed for Ellis County, Texas. She died by the end of the journey and was buried December 28, 1876 in the Mountain Peak Cemetery, Ellis County, Texas. Would appreciate any insight into the Lewis Cooper family. Thanks.
