    3. Dear Subscribers to the COOPER Surname Mailing List/Discussion Group, Hello; my name is Randy Cooper. I have been researching my family history for seven years. I am pursuing the COOPER surname in Williams County, primarily in the person of Edwin COOPER, who supposedly arrived in Williams County, Ohio about 1840, from Suffield, Connecticut. It is my hope that you will be interested in sharing information regarding Edwin COOPER. I have a copy of a Deed or Bill of Sale dated 25 Feb 1840, from the records of Suffield, Hartford County, Connecticut, which transfered certain articles of furniture and property from Harvey SIKES to Edwin COOPER, both men of Suffield. The transaction was witnessed by Edwin COOPER's father Jacob COOPER and was written by Justice of the Peace Harvey BISSELL. The handwriting is difficult to read, but as far as I can tell, the items were as follows: one bureau, one patent clock, one cooking stove, one set of flag chairs, one set of wood chairs, three rocking chairs, one table and stand, one carpet, one pair of brass andirons, one bed and bedding, one French bedstead, one pair of brass candlesticks, two common bedsteads, one small bed and bedstead, two brass kettles, one map of Solomon's Temple, one looking glass, two low(?) carpets, five cider barrels and two kegs. Does it appear to you that these articles were purchased to prepare for the move to Ohio? Edwin COOPER was born 17 Sep 1797 at West Springfield, Massachusetts, a son of Jacob COOPER and Rebecca SPOONER. As far as I know, Edwin COOPER lived at Suffield, Hartford County, Connecticut from about 1821 until his departure for Ohio, about 1840. Edwin COOPER was a physician who practiced at West Unity, Williams County, Ohio. He died unmarried in 1880. An Ancestral File entry has a marriage date of 5 Mar 1815 for Edwin COOPER, at Suffield, Connecticut, but the wife was not named in the entry. Edwin COOPER was enumerated in the 1860 Census of Mill Creek Township, Williams County, Ohio, on page 123. Do you have access to this Census entry? Thank you for any additional information you may have regarding Edwin COOPER, and I wish you complete success in your quests! Looking forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Randal "Randy" W. Cooper in Lorain County, Ohio
