To Ben and Gary regarding DNA testing. I have been reading with interest all of the DNA postings. I was wondering if anyone else has the problem that I have? I have proven my line very solidly back to Lycurgus Cooper born 1809 in PA. Lycurgus listed his parents a William Cooper, father born NJ, and mother's maiden name as Boon on a marriage record (2nd marriage). I have a copy of a will from Delaware County, OHIO for a William Cooper that names Lycurgus in it. I'm confident that this is Lycurgus's Dad, but it didn't say "my son, Lycurgus" so would like a second documentation for solid proof. Working on that item. Anyway, my dilemma is this....my family is loaded with males. Dad's alive, I have 3 brothers, and from those brothers, 6 nephews. Not one of them cares one whit about genealogy and will not pay for the DNA test! I love it better than anything, but am a widow and can barely afford the Internet, much less a DNA test. My brother's are leary about identity theft but one of them said they'd do one (probably so I'll leave them alone!)...if I pay for it! Talk about frustration!!! Anyway, was just wondering if there were any donated funding for people like me who can supply DNA to help flesh out a Cooper line, but just can't afford it? Realize this question can probably open up a real can of worms....but if you don't ask, you'll never know the answer! Thanks for the consideration of your reply!
