    3. Quite the contrary, Lois. This is a worldwide data file of DNA results. As long as you keep a current email address with your DNA results in FTDNA, you will be notified of matches. As an exemplar of what can be done, one group in our Cooper Surname DNA Group has eleven matches. This had to take a lot of research, cooperation and work among the group's participants. I personally applaud their efforts. You must not expect a submission of a DNA sample to be the answer to your family tree history. You must continue to research and encourage participation in the DNA study to prove and disprove your family history. Personally, I have disproven more than I have proven in my lineage research and DNA analysis. I feel this is good because I want the truth in my family tree. In the group we have three matches to the James Fenimore Cooper line. That was a startling revelation and has discreated a lot of long-standing genealogical research and presumptions of family history connections. Incidentally, the three did not know of their connection before the DNA testing. That is the ultimate goal of each participant but it takes work and tenacity. Don't be dishearted, keep plugging along and encourage others to do the same. Keep on researching your answers will come with time. Have a good day! H. Sorry, but there is no way we can decipher who belongs to who if they refuse to divulge the lineages. Most DNA sites just don't list the living descendants and merely put in an email for contact. I guess I wasted my money in having my cousin do the testing. Lois
