I have a William Cooper born 1762 in NJ. I don't know if your Daniel is related to him or not. My William Cooper went on to Ohio. And had a daughter Margaret (Peggy) Cooper who married Jacob Boone in 1816. Believe he was the son of a William Cooper that migrated in the late 1600's from England. There is an historical brick building built by them still standing on Coopers Point in Camden today. It was damaged by fire several years ago. I drove down to look at it when I was researching my William Cooper of Bucks County/Philadelphia who turned out to be unrelated to this Cooper bunch. These Coopers were quite wealthy at that time. Coopers Point is now located in a extremely low income area. Did not appear very safe to visit without being accompanied by someone from the historical society. There is also a Cooper River in the area. Cooper's Point can be found on the old maps of that time period and I believe on the local maps of the area. You might want to try an internet search.
