Curtis, My Coopers were Quakers and arrived Penn's Landing in 1699. They are traced back to Richmond and Low Ellington, Yorkshire England. William Cooper the immigrant was buried in Byberry Meeting Place in 1709. Byberry is still a Quaker meeting place to this day and the cemetary is still there surrounded by a stone wall. They lived just north of Philadelphia in Bucks County before my line migrated to Union County, South Carolina prior to the Revolutionary War. Some remained in SC and others spread out from there to Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas and Ohio. The Ohio bunch remained quakers at least into the 1800's and had some that went to Indiana with descendants going as far west as Washington and Oregon. My line migrated to Marion County, Alabama. My line of Coopers is involved with the Cooper Surname DNA Research program. If you have a male Cooper from your line that is willing to have his DNA matched up against 46 other Cooper lines, you may find a match. It is not very expensive.
