I recently read an article about the "Slickers War" in MO. It organization originated in Benton County, MO about 1841, and was formed to rid the county of thieves and counterfeiters. Similar organizations formed in other counties. Among the names of the "SLICKERS" [as they were known] in Lincoln and St. Charles, Counties in MO, was William and Benjamin COOPER. Is there any one out there who has knowledge of William and Benjamin Cooper of Lincoln or St. Charles County, or any of their family? Ben: I have a Benjamin Cooper from across the AR border into McDonald County, MO. Not sure it is the same, probably not but thought I would answer anyway. I am not sure where the other counties are in AR that you mentioned. My father's family is from Mt. Ida, Montgomery County, AR.
