--WebTV-Mail-6490-306 Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Just wondering and wandering for about 20 years now. Trying to find my Cooper roots before 1850 in Lee County, VA. In that census, Elizabeth Cooper 40 was listed as head of household with children as George 20, Martha 17, Catherine ( my grgrandmother ) 15, Mary 12. In the 1860 census in that county, Elizabeth Cooper is not listed. George has married an Elizabeth Gilbert. The daughters are living with Morris relatives or benevolent neighbors. We believe Elizabeth Morris Cooper died around 1854 in Lee County of a severe fever but have found no record. Subsequent records show a listing by all the children of Elizabeth Cooper as mother. No father is listed. All list VA as place of birth. Our Cooper relatives are traceable beginning with this 1850 census. The Morris and Garrisons are traceable thru the great halls of Europe. Our branch of the Morris family is noted by the birth of Elizabeth in 1808 ( ? ) into the family of Elias Morris, sr. in Montgomery County, NC. Elizabeth would have been around age 30 when married . The trek of the Elias Morris, sr. family ( which seems to have been closely knit ) thru the mountains of NC , TN , VA has not been clearly mapped . We believe Carter County, TN was a stop on the route . Question to those of you in this exchange of info is have you seen any evidence of a marriage between Elizabeth Morris and a Cooper ? Similarity in origin led me to this question ? Perhaps a George ??? NOW ! WHO WAS THAT COOPER FELLOW WHO MARRIED GRGRGRANDMOTHER ELIZABETH MORRIS AND MADE ME A COOPER ? --WebTV-Mail-6490-306 Content-Disposition: Inline Content-Type: Message/RFC822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Received: from smtpin-3201.bay.webtv.net (209.240.204.226) by storefull-3158.bay.webtv.net with WTV-SMTP; Wed, 23 Jun 2004 22:41:24 -0700 Received: from lists5.rootsweb.com (lists5.rootsweb.com [66.43.18.41]) by smtpin-3201.bay.webtv.net (WebTV_Postfix+sws) with ESMTP id 26940FE58; Wed, 23 Jun 2004 22:41:24 -0700 (PDT) Received: (from [email protected]) by lists5.rootsweb.com (8.12.8/8.12.8) id i5O30AI5011117; Wed, 23 Jun 2004 21:00:10 -0600 Date: Wed, 23 Jun 2004 21:00:10 -0600 Message-Id: <[email protected]> From: [email protected] Subject: COOPER-D Digest V04 #96 X-Loop: [email protected] X-Mailing-List: <[email protected]> archive/volume04/96 Precedence: list MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/digest; boundary="----------------------------" To: [email protected] Reply-To: [email protected] X-Brightmail: Message tested, results are inconclusive ------------------------------ Content-Type: text/plain COOPER-D Digest Volume 04 : Issue 96 Today's Topics: #1 Re: [COOPER] NJ Coopers [[email protected]] #2 Re: [COOPER] NJ Coopers ["joed99" <[email protected]>] #3 Re: [COOPER] NJ Coopers [[email protected]] #4 Re: [COOPER] Cooper in Missouri ["gloria" <[email protected]>] Administrivia: To unsubscribe from COOPER-D, send a message to [email protected] that contains in the body of the message the command unsubscribe and no other text. The date you have could be right, but I only wish I knew the answer to your question about Elmira ties. I have no first names for my g grandparents which makes it extremely difficult to search for them. At best she might be a relation to my g grandmother who was the mother of my grandfather John William WILSON. I have much hope concerning finding the first names of my paternal g grandparents since only recently after many years of intense searching I suddenly found the first names of my maternal LINDSAY g grandparents. So, I have re-affimed my belief that all things are possible.
