Upon further review....that is the correct family, but that is the 1880 Franklin Co, AR census. I'm looking for this family in 1870. Maybe they are in a neighboring county? Curt, You may want to check out "J. H. Cooper" on the 1870 census in Sebastian Co., Ark. (Big Creek Township, page 89, lines 19 through 25, dwelling/family #54). There are a couple of descrepancies in names and sex, but I think there are too many similarities for this not to be your James Cooper. Good luck.
