Hi Cooper researchers...This message brings up some questions for me, in the line of Coopers. I have a Sampson Cooper born in Ripon , Yorkshire England in 1592. He had sons, Sampson, William (who died very young) and Jonathan. Sampson was born april 30, 1592, he died in the colonies in 1658, leaving his wife and one son, Jonathan in England. His underage son, Samuel, was with him when he died. In his will he leaves property in England to his wife and son Jonathan. At the time of his death, his son Jonathan was "lately in the occupation of Alderman Warwicke", meaning he was a Commissioner or Councilman in the County of Warwick. He must have been at least 18/21 to hold this position. In his will, Sampson requests that his son Samuel be apprenticed to a Mr Cocke, a SilverSmith in London. Samuel later is in residence in Yorktown Virginia (1691)with his wife Elizabeth Isles, daughter of Thomas Isles. I have followed this Samuel Cooper down to the present day, and our Coopers have taken the DNA test. Samuel had a son Isles, who had son John. This John had several sons, three who had decendants that took the DNA test and all match... The big question is this: We have three groups of Coopers who match our DNA, that Could have come from the decendants of Sampson's brother Jonathan....I have not followed Jonathans line after Sampson left England. I would like very much to tie these lines together. Do you know if any of these Coopers you mentioned have taken the DNA test??? A possible connection could be with the William who came to the Americas with his son Jonathan in 1699. ( William perhaps being a son of the Jonathan,a brother to Samuel???) Age wise this seem likely... Anyone have any more info to tie this together?? Later...Joyce > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <Dbyrd000@aol.com> > To: <cooper@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Monday, April 16, 2007 9:46 PM > Subject: Re: [COOPER] The enigmatic Jonathan Cooper, Pennsylvania > > >> >> In a message dated 4/16/2007 10:32:59 AM Eastern Daylight Time, rdh@epix.net >> writes: >> >> I'm searching for any information concerning Jonathan Cooper, born in >> Bucks County, PA, moved to Berwick, Columbia County, PA cir. 1797-1800. >> >> >> >> Hi Russell, >> >> Your Jonathan Cooper could be descended from the family of Jonathan Cooper >> born 11 Jan 1675 in Richmond, near Leyburn, Yorkshire England and died 12 >> February 1769 in Byberry P.P., Abington, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
