My son contributed his COOPER DNA for "the cause" this past week. I look forward to connecting with others from our line. To this point, I haven't had any success in locating ancestors earlier than Marion COOPER born at Fort Gaines GA c1840. He fought with Co E, 59th Regiment GA . By 1880 he and his family are found in Polk Co GA, Fish Creek Dist. Looks like his wife, Emily may have been a PERRY. T One of their sons, Joel Augustus COOPER born Oct 08, 1859 married Ioda B. MORGAN June 03, 1880 in Polk Co. The COOPER's were brick masons. Other surnames connected to our COOPER line near Cedartown GA are CLAY, WILKIE and GRIFFIN.
