Do you know of any Coopers that went on down to S.C.? My William Cooper was born in Florida. One census (1860 Fl.) states his father was born in Fl. The 1910 states his birth was in South Carolina. Have you heard of William L. ( family said L. for Lane ) Cooper born 1855 or 1860 in Florida, married Elizabeth Mathis or Matthews? It seems a lot of Coopers are hiding. My grandmother, Mary Cooper Waite Youngs married an Alonzo Barnes, in Syracuse, NY, but she lived in Sodus, and Williamson, NY, and died in 1901. There was also a Thomas Cooper, from Media, Pa , senator, who attended a wedding in Sodus, NY, circa 1880, from a newspaper clipping, and it could be of the same family. McIntire,dtr of Frank McIntire and Sarah Celecta Barnes and had two children, Alonzo Benson Cooper, B: Hillsgrove, PA 22 June 1889,D:22 October 1964, Chattanooga, TN. and Florence G. Cooper B:17 May 1892, D: Moscow, Idaho 23 March 1918. I recall my mother saying that her Grandfather George and Grandmother Lucy divorced in about 1898. Lucy remarried a William Joseph Costigan and she died in Moscow, Idaho in 1922. George B. Cooper remarried an Elizabeth Mary Fogle nee Flick, lived in PA and they had a daughter Flossie born in 1903 who married a Bush and had a daughter Pearl M. Bush. I find them sometimes in the census records, but find no death of George in PA. Of course, it took me 20 years to find my grandfather Alonzo B. Cooper who disappeared when my mother was 19 and she passed on in 2003, age 82. I am diligent, but the brick wall is daunting. Anyone heard of these Coopers? Terry F.
