Hi Gina...I have no Proof as such for thinking Abner was the son of Wells. In the 1830 census record Wells is listed with 3 sons and 4 daughters at home. In the 1820 Bedford county Tn census, he is listed with 4 daughers. 1830 Ky census: Cooper, Wells 1 male -5 / 2 males 5-10 / 1 male 50-60 1 female -5 / 3 females 10-15 / 1 female 40-50 Wells died in 1836. The following info is from Brad Segers in March 2002 [email protected] he sent Jerrry Cooper the inventory of Wells. He also said that he had identified these children: Temperance (Brads ancestor)1818 md Zadock Causey/Cossey Fannie, 1820 md William Rogers Ira about 1822 Alford(Alfred) 1826-1881 Martha 1830 md before 1858 to Robert W. Cossey(brother of Zadock , above) Sophia 1830/32 md. Henry Baker and had children. two unknown children, a daughter born before 1820 and a SON, born about 1824/5.(Abner?) Your Abner would fit into this picture, (1) He was born in Tn. (2) He is the right age. (3) He is not in the 1840 census with his mother as the other two sons are...( is he meeting and getting ready to marry Sarah West??) (4) And if Sarah is not speaking to her father, they do not come back to Christian County Ky. My reason for posting that Abner may be a son of Wells is that we are trying to find a decendant of Wells to do the DNA testing. So there is no Proof, but you can get that...Just have a Cooper male decendant take the DNA test. It has to be father to son, to son , to son, ect. Our Coopers have taken it and we have 7 matches so far....this could take your line back to the middle 1600's in England. Hope to hear from you about the DNA...
