    3. Ben, yes, you have the correct John J. Cooper. I can go forward from John's marriage to Mary Hinkins in 1833 in Shenandoah Co., VA but I'm at a standstill going back any further from this date. Family tradition says John's family was Scots-Irish and came from England. I have yet to determine who his parents/siblings were. A branch of the family, John Henry Cooper (1835-1898), went to East St. Louis, IL in 1883. I recently made contact with some of John H's descendants. So far, haven't uncovered anything different.
