    1. [COOPER-L] FIRST RECESSION IN NEW NATION...
    2. O'Melia
    3. I wonder what was the atmosphere during the first recession of this young country and our COOPER families during the years 1788 to 1790. 24 months of recession. I we sure that they were calling it a recession?? Do you know where your COOPER were living during these years?? Were the stage companies cutting back on their trips?? Did our COOPER lines face the problem of not enough road building by the states and the central government?? Was there a strain in the commodities market on corn, pork, beef, etc?? Shipping routes at sea still facing John Bull blockades?? Do you know what your COOPER was doing during those years?? Farmers in the COOPER line finding it harder to get their implements and grain. Was the exchange of currency still in tobacco during these years?? If you have some information concerning your COOPER during the years of 1788 to 1790 that would add some color to the times and willing to share on this list....it would indeed be most interesting to the true history buff.(g) John Michael O`Melia [I was not there at the time] 13jo36@BellSouth.net [Long before Alexander Bell, too]
