You post caught my eye because of the Pinkney name in SC. My grandfather is a Cooper and grandmother a McKissick. The McKissicks were in SC at the time you describe and several have the middle name Pickney. I have researched it a bit and apparently there was a large plantation owner by the name of Pinkney in the area. Many descendants and also slave descendants carry the Pickney name. Do you have any McKissicks in your tree? Mine also moved onto MS.
