Hi Ben, The picture of a cooper's workshop that I sent to you, was engraved by J.J.van Vliet, after Rembrandt, 1635. Just thought you might like to know..... Ricky Cooper. PS My earliest known Ancestor was Jacobus (Jeames) Cowper, died 15 June 1611. He lived in Burton in the County of Chester, England. I have a copy of his "Inventory" compiled by four of his neighbours after his death. They were called "Appraisers" No doubt Jeames practised his Archery every Sunday after church, the grooves where the arrows were sharpened are still visible in the church entrance. This branch of Cowpers didn't become Coopers until 1700.
