COLUMBIA, SC - A graveside service for Arthur Darrah Cooper, 76, will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 - 8 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Mr. Cooper died Monday, June 2, 2008. Born in Odd, W.Va., he was the son of the late Adney Earl and Myra Griffith Cooper. Mr. Cooper served in various capacities at The State newspaper (Columbia Record). After his work with the newspaper, he was engaged in real estate management and development and served as comptroller for Hampton Automotive Company. He was a member of Forest Lake Club and Palmetto Club. Surviving are his wife, Jane R. Cooper of Columbia; sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Ruthie Cooper of Columbia and Tom and Betsy Cooper of Lexington, Ky.; granddaughters, Kimberly Cooper of Charleston and Rebecca Cooper of Lexington, Ky.; grandson, Drew Cooper of Columbus, Ohio; and sisters, Carole Sue Plumley of Virginia Beach, Va. and Lois Lovell and her husband, Warren of Ghent, W.Va.
