I read through the archives for the Cooper list this morning trying to get some ideas about my ancestor William Stephens Cooper, b. 1810? in NC who migrated to Webster/Marion Co. Georgia and married Elizabeth Bacon around 1840. I thought I would search under their younger son's name, Fleet Wood Cooper(b. 1859 in GA), since it is unusual and probably a family name. It turned out that was the name to look for. I, of course, learned that Fleet is a family name. I would love to hear from someone who could advise me on how significant the Fleet name is to the Cooper clan and does anyone know where it came from? Can I pretty much assume that the Fleet name was passed within the same line of Coopers or does it show up hither & yon in other Cooper lines? Gwen Brooks Atlanta, GA
