Darlene, Was John C. a son of Old Samuel Cooper? I have done a lot of looking at this line. My third great grandfather was Stephen Cooper. Have you ever heard of him? I think he and your Samuel were brothers, or possibly cousins. They were closely associated, and were even jointly sued by the state of Tennessee, probably for delinquent taxes, or some such thing.
