    3. > > Beth, > It appears you are researching the same Cooper line as me ("Moses and James > Cooper (brothers) of Dover, N. J. were the son of John who came from Haverstraw, N. Y. at an early date"). But if your source was the J. P. Crayon book (History of the Cooper Family - pub. 1890's), beware that some of us have found major errors in those lines. Crayon stated that there were 4 "brothers," sons of John who settled in Haverstraw, NY, and that the family was Dutch. That statement has sent me on many a wild goose chase and > I haven't been able to confirm it. For instance, they may have SAILED from Holland, and there are other Cooper lines who were originally Dutch Kuyper's, but I really don't think this line is. Also, I don't believe these guys were actual brothers. Crayon relied > heavily on personal interviews with the elder Coopers who were alive in that > area of NJ/NY in the late 1890's. I'll look at my files on the Horace > Cooper - Van Buskirk connection to see if I see anything familiar. > Tom Cooper > Cleveland Hts., OH
