As said in an earlier post I searched through the Cooper list archive this morning. However I could not figure out as I was reading when we first had a Cooper in America and where. I noticed a particular line mentioned as being the first, James Cooper, who came from England to New Jersey. Is this correct? I also noticed several times a reference to a genealogy of Coopers that had been written. I'd like more information about this source. Is this a purchase that would be worthwhile? Is it considered to be fairly accurate? Thanks to everyone. Gwen Brooks Atlanta, GA

I am sure there are several COOPERs by that time or before. Further down in the family the name FLEET comes in but I cant give you a direct connection..maybe someone on line can tie it in for you....later..joyce

I know that somehow we are related to the Fleet that was a famous preacher. There is a book The Cooper Family, History and Genealogy 1681-1931 by Murphy Rowe Cooper. I believe if we could tie into this book we would be lucky. Maybe you can find the link. ----- Original Message ----- From: Gwen Brooks <jhngwn@bellsouth.net> To: <COOPER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, May 15, 2000 1:25 PM Subject: [COOPER-L] First Cooper Family in America > As said in an earlier post I searched through the Cooper list archive this > morning.
