Janie Russell, Here's what I have on my William Cooper: He was born in Hamilton Cty., Ohio in 1820. He was the first child of JESSE COOPER (1783 - 1848/49) and DORCAS. He lived with his parents in Columbia Twp. until sometime in the 1830s when the family moved to neighboring Clermont County. In 1844, he married LUCINDA HARRIS of Hamilton Cty. They lived in Clermont County also. In 1862, at the age of 41 he enlisted in the 79th. Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He left his wife, children and probably his crops to fight in the civil war. He must have been home at some time because the next to last of his children, DORA JANE was born in 1864. My great grandmother, FLORA BELLE COOPER was born in 1866. His other children were: JESSE COOPER b. 1845, m. Lyda Dumford and also had a 2nd wife. SARAH COOPER b. Jan. 13, 1847 d. 1868 HENRY COOPER b. Dec. 20, 1849 m. Lizzie Border 1881 LAURA COOPER b. Sept. 30, 1851 m. Frederick Whiting, 1868 ELIZABETH COOPER b. May 12, 1854 m. Albert Cain 1879 JOHN COOPER b. March 9, 1856 m. Hannah Davis 1884 Sometime in the 1870s Wm. and his family moved to Montgomery Cty. Ohio. He died in 1892 and is buried in Eversole Cemetary west of Dayton. Miscellaneous Cooper info: ca. 1809, a Wm. Cooper purchased the first lot in Madison or Madisonville, Ohio. This is near Cincinnati. Unfortunately, he could not keep up the payments and had to forfeit it. I wonder if he is a relative of Jesse's. 1815, Jesse Cooper is listed as the administrator of the estate of George Cooper. I think he's a relative, but I just don't know. In the early 1800s there is a family of Coopers who ran a ferry service between the Ohio and Kentucky banks of the Ohio River. There is a revolutionary war soldier, Spencer Cooper who is buried in Spring Grove Cemetary in Cinci. I know there is at least 1 Wm. Cooper in his line, but they are not related to my Coopers. This is probably more than you ever wanted to know, but I hope it helps. Do you know where in Ohio your William is buried? Is it possible that my Jesse and your William are brothers? The dates seem to be right. Sharon
