    3. ATTENTION: COOPER-lines worldwide. A Cooper Surname DNA Project is available to those looking for a way to locate Cooper relatives and delineate their relationship to other Cooper-lines. It does require a male with the Cooper surname. The objective is to find people with the Cooper surname who share a common ancestor, as well as identify the different Cooper-lines and potential national origin. You can use DNA analysis to: 1. Substantiate your family research. 2. Further your research efforts. 3. Give you direction in your research. 4. Prove and disprove research you have completed. 5. Prove or disprove family lore. This single feature in family research makes the investment in DNA testing more than worth the cost. I can testify to the fact it has disproved historical documentation on my Cooper-line written by well known and thought-out Cooper-line researchers, published over many years and handed down from generation to generation. Unfortunately, these historical records have a life of their own and give many families today an untrue view of their family history. I predict DNA analysis will disprove many historically documented details of Cooper-lines throughout the world. DNA analysis is an invaluable research tool, which will improve with age. By no means does it supplant traditional genealogy research, but it does supplement and give an added tool in genealogical research. Effects not often discussed are: 1. It forces you to do in-depth research of your family's roots and to share your findings with other family researchers and encourage their participation. 2. It gives you a greater explanation of your family's history and its migration patterns in the United States of America and throughout the world. 3. It brings excitement into your research, causes families to come together and gives your research a sense of worth. 4. It can find previously unknown and new relatives. 5. It permits you to leave a legacy to your descendants of familial ties with pride. 6. It will continue to notify you of DNA Print matches as long as you keep the email address on your personal page in Family Tree DNA current.
