Hi Perils The recent correspondence came about because I had sent some info to another Cooper researcher re: my grgr grandparents, Nathaniel P. and Sophia Lucinda Cowles Cooper who m. in Pultneyville about 1835. Still trying to find parentage of Nathaniel. I think you and I have corresponded before on this question and you apparently rule out your Thomas as there is no Nathaniel mentioned. That leaves Peter and Jos. (Joseph?) listed in the 1810 census with two boys each under 10. This would fit Nathaniel's age group as he was b about 1806. I am thinking of trying to find wills or probate records for both men but am not sure where to send for them. Can you tell me? I know you live somewhere near to Pultneyville (or did the last time we spoke) and maybe are familiar with what is available. We don't have any matches on my brother's DNA test either so we must be following different lines of Coopers. Thanks Carroll Cooper Summers Oregon I, too, am researching the coopers of Pultneyville, NY. Thomas Cooper, wf Mary purchased land ab 1814, listed in tax records of 1817, gave land to children of his deceased son Peter Cooper, wf Amie Conk, who were married in 1801 in Monmouth County, NJ. I believe the Joseph listed in the 1810 census was washed overboard in an accident in the Oswego Harbor in 1816, according to a newspaper clipping I found. I have massive amounts of info, and my cousin Ken did the dna test for the Cooper line, but we have no connections yet. Descendents of Thomas sold land to another Cooper in Williamson for the Quaker building, but did not refer to him as cousin, brother, etc..All this from memory, but I missed a lot of the postings because I have been traveling. One of the children of the Thomas Cooper line was a Maurice. Other names are Cottrell, Conk, Harrison, (Harris), Waite, Alsop, Lewis, Grandin. Let me get out my files.... ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
